Uruguay to Sign Adidas Kit Deal

Uruguay is set to wear Adidas kits at the 2024 Copa America, according to reports in the country (via Mantos do Futebol). The team's previous contract with Puma ended in December, and Uruguay wore in-house kits for their matches so far this year.

Adidas has a history with the Uruguayan team, as they provided uniforms from 1974 to 1984. According to the new reports, Adidas has won a competition organized by the Uruguayan Football Association, surpassing competitors such as Puma, Nike, and Under Armour.

Although the switch will not be as straightforward as one might think. As per what is being reported, Puma has the right to match any offers for the kit deal until June 30, despite the fact that the Puma deal has already expired. This means that the Adidas deal can only be made official after that date, which could mean that the Uruguayan Football Association will simply buy Adidas teamwear kits for the Copa. They could of course also continue using the in-house kits until then.

No Supplier: Second In-House Uruguay 2024 Home & Away Kits Released

If Uruguay had to choose from Adidas' current teamwear offering, we think Campeon 23 or Tabela 23 could be options.

The 2024 Copa America will be held in the United States, with the tournament kicking off on 20 June. Uruguay's first match is scheduled for 23 June against Panama at the Sun Life Stadium in Florida. There is also a friendly against Mexico scheduled for 5 June, which could potentially mark the debut of Adidas uniforms for the Celeste team.

Stay tuned for updates on Adidas potentially taking over the Uruguay kit deal and about the team's Copa America kit situation in the coming weeks.
