Puma today launched an all-new Puma evoSPEED SL model, which is designed to last more than the 10 games of the 103g Puma evoSPEED SL Boots. The totally new Puma evoSPEED SL-S Football Boots will be headlined by players such as Marco Reus and Sergio Agüero. The Puma evoSPEED SL-S Boot is set to be debuted this Boxing Day.
In Summer 2015, Puma revealed the quite revolutionary Puma evoSPEED SL Soccer Boots. Weighing in at incredible 103 gram (3.6 ounces), the Puma evoSPEED SL Soccer Cleats could have been the winner in the speed boot game if it didn't emerged soon after the launch that the boots would only last up to 10 matches.
Puma evoSPEED SL-S Safety Yellow / Atomic Blue / White
This is the first-ever Puma evoSPEED SL-S Boot Colorway.
Boasting the same design as the yellow and light blue Puma evoSPEED SL 2016 Boots, the first-ever paint job of the Puma evoSPEED SL-S Soccer Boot combines the flashy colors 'Safety Yellow' and 'Atomic Blue' with white applications to stand out during the coldest and darkest months of year. So, as the design and the look of the boot is exactly the same as previously, let's get straight into the tech differences of the Puma evoSPEED SL and the all-new Puma evoSPEED SL-S.
Whereas the Puma evoSPEED SL Boot features a ultra-thin textile upper, the Puma evoSPEED SL-S Soccer Boot comes with a more durable premium monolayer microfiber that is designed to provide comfort, stability and a better feeling of the ball. How does this affect the lightweight concept of the boots?
While the ultra-lightweight Puma evoSPEED SL 2015-2016 Boots weigh in at the already infamous 103 gram, the more durable Puma evoSPEED SL-S Cleat comes with a weight of 148 gram. So, are there more differences between the Puma evoSPEED SL and the Puma evoSPEED SL-S?
Tech-wise, all other elements apart from the changed upper are the same as before. However, whereas the Puma evoSPEED SL Boots retailed at 230 Euro, the all-new Puma evoSPEED SL-S Boot Edition is slightly less expensive (200 Euro, ~200 USD, ~165 GBP).
Sergio Agüero said, "These new boots are simply incredible. Players have different needs from their football boots, I like to wear the same boots in training that I wear in matches, which is just my personal preference. This new evoSPEED SL-S allows me to do that, which I am very happy about. To me, a light boot is very important, as it helps me to pick up maximum speed within few seconds or change direction easily, which is key to my style of play."
Puma continues to release the standard SL version of the boots, which still lasts only up to 10 games. However, the Puma evoSPEED SL will receive no more key players support. Puma announced that 'the boot will continue to be a key high performance product in the global sports brand’s football footwear offering.'
Puma has finally responded to the well-deserved criticisms. What do you think of the Puma evoSPEED SL-S Boot? Let us know in the comments below.
