Wolfsburg yesterday announced a strategic partnership with Nike after German newspaper Wolfsburger Allgemeine Zeitung already revealed that the new VfL Wolfsburg 2016-2017 Kits will be made by Nike and will feature a rather classical design two weeks ago. The contract will run for at least nine years, while the new Nike kits will be released on July 4.
Wolfsburg Agrees 9-Year Nike Jersey Deal
The new VfL Wolfsburg kit deal is worth €8m / season. Set to commence from the start of the 2016-17 season, Nike will make the VfL Wolfsburg Kits at least until 2025-26.
VfL manager Thomas Röttgermann emphasised: "This long-term and strategically characterised partnership with Nike is a massive leap forwards for VfL Wolfsburg. Nike believes in the potential of VfL and we want to pay back the fate that has been placed in us as from July, by being more attractive, innovative, internationally focused and, above all, a successful partner." The Wolves kit for the 2016/2017 season will be officially presented as part of the start of training for the new campaign on July 4th. The new fan collection, with the infamous Nike logo, will also be presented in July.
"Nike and VfL Wolfsburg are exceptionally well suited. Just like us, Nike are extremely ambitious and are never simply satisfied with what they have achieved, but always strive to reach the optimum. In Nike, we have won a strategic partner, who are an example to us and with whom we intend to achieve a great deal with in the future. We wish to extend our gratitude to Kappa, for the successful past two years we’ve enjoyed together and who were always there for us as a reliable partner," commented VfL’s Director of Sport Klaus Allofs.
The new VfL Wolfsburg Nike Kit Deal is worth approximately €75m over nine years, which makes it the biggest kit deal in the history of VfL Wolfsburg and the second-biggest deal in the German Bundesliga just behind FC Bayern München.
