FC Bayern Munich today announced the signing of Swedish youth international Jonah Kusi-Asare. The 16-year-old forward joins the German record champions from AIK Solna for 4.5 million euros. However, FC Bayern confused people at the presentation.
FC Bayern signs Jonah Kusi-Asare - Will wear number 9 for U19, but not for the first team
Jonah Kusi-Asare was presented with Bayern Munich's number 9 jersey, which is actually the number of Bayern's star striker Harry Kane - why?
For the first team, he will get a number above 40
Kusi-Asare will live on the FC Bayern campus and will first get match practice with the U19 team. He will wear the number 9 for the U19 team, but, of course, not for the first team. Kane keeps his number 9.
If Kusi-Asare were to make his first team debut or join the Bayern A squad, he would probably be given a number above 40, like other Bayern youth players (and former youth player Jamal Musiala, who has kept his number 42 to this day).
Should Bayern present Kusi-Asare without a number? Let us know in the comments below.
