Talks Have Broken Down: Freenet Will NOT Become Hertha Berlin's New Main Sponsor

Update: Talks between Hertha BSC and Freenet have broken down and the company will not become the club's new main sponsor, as reported by RBB.

"We can confirm that there were talks. However, we did not come to a solution that was mutually acceptable for both sides," Freenet Group stated.

It's claimed that there was a discrepancy between what was offered by Freenet and what the club hoped to bring in from the new sponsor. And thus, Hertha's kit will remain sponsorless for the moment. However, the club are reportedly still in talks with other interested parties.

Hertha BSC have reportedly finally found a new main sponsor. According to Kurier, talks between the club and telecommunications company Freenet are at an advanced stage.

It remains to be seen how exactly the Freenet logo will be applied to the Hertha kits - both of which have enjoyed great popularity thanks to their clean sponsorless looks.

No details about the length or value of the deal are known as of now, but it is unlikely that it will exceed the amount of the previous deal.

Hertha were previously sponsored by Tedi in a deal that was worth around €7.5 million per year. The contract was ended after the end of the current season.

According to earlier reports, club owner Lars Windhorst had hoped to secure deals with Amazon or Tesla.
