In an unusual situation, Bulgaria women's national football team was forced to wear the away kit of the Gibraltar women's national football team during their 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup qualification match.
Bulgaria Brings Wrong, Red Kit to Match
The visitors reportedly only brought their red away kit, which clashed with Gibraltar’s colors. To avoid a delay and ensure the match could go ahead, Gibraltar provided their own 2024 away kit for Bulgaria to wear.
Despite playing in their opponent’s shirt, Bulgaria still secured a comfortable 5–0 win.
Situations like this are rare but not unheard of. A similar case happened in 1997, when Chelsea FC had to wear a kit belonging to Coventry City FC due to a kit clash.
