Girona FC, who currently play in the Second Division, this morning unveiled the winning design of the logo vote that was announced two months ago, in August.

The new logo removes the crown above the roundel while also modernizing the various elements included in it.
This redesign was influenced by a survey conducted among the Girona FC club members, who were asked to rate the different parts of the crest. The flag and white-red stripes won this vote with a result of 8.9 out of 10. The name of the club and the water graphic followed with 8.6 and 7.5, respectively. The crown was the lowest-rated item with just 4.8 and was therefore omitted from the new designs.
Out of the two options available for Girona members to choose from, option A won with an overwhelming 87 percent of votes.
Although it was already presented to the pubic on October 25th, 2021, the new Girona logo will only be used by the club officially from the start of the 2022-23 season.
Delfí Geli, President of Girona FC: “It was important for us to listen to the opinion of the Members to decide which was the best shield for the future of Girona. It has been a long and laborious process because we are aware of the importance of this symbol for the fans. We needed to evolve our coat of arms and take a step forward to modernize ourselves. It symbolizes the values of our Club, the colors and the territory.”
Josep M. Fonalleras, writer: “The new shield tends to simplify the forms, necessary in an era of constant communications that rejects an excess of information, which is what the image of before transmitted. It is important to note, however, that this stylization - which focuses more explicitly on the removal of the crown - maintains the distinctive features of the club throughout history and, above all, conveys a first visual impact that causes immediate identification and intuitive between the new emblem and the traditional image of Girona FC."
