Last week, Liverpool finally officially announced that they have signed a kit sponsorship deal with Nike, replacing New Balance. Today we take a look at the 20 biggest kit deals in European football.
20 Biggest Kit Deals in Football 2019-2020
First, it has to be noted that all the figures in the ranking by sports agency Sport Cal are given in US Dollar, despite mostly being signed in Euro. Second, the ranking is from the start of the 2018-2019 season and therefore does not include Liverpool x Nike.
The ranking reveals nothing your would be surprised of - FC Barcelona leads the ranking with around 175 million USD (officially 150 million Euro), followed by Real Madrid (135 million USD) and Manchester United (100 million USD / 75 million GBP).
However, what is likely most interesting for many, where would be Liverpool ranked with its Nike deal?
Liverpool's deal with Nike is only worth a fixed sum of 30 million GBP. However, the contract includes many bonuses and variables, such as 4 million GBP for a Champions League victory (+ the same amount for a Premier League triumph), and more importantly, 20% on jersey sales and 5% for shoes. The total sum of the Liverpool Nike deal is expected to be around 80 million Euro per season. This would rank them on Place 5, ahead of Manchester City.
