Philadelphia Union have opened a fan vote about a back tag that will feature on the jersey.
For the first time in MLS history, Philadelphia Union's new 2019 kit will feature fan-chosen back tags that will be emblazoned below the neckline on the back, both on the players' match jerseys as well as the ones available to buy to fans.
Back tag designs were created with assistance from numerous people including Philly power couple Zach and Julie Ertz, Bonedaddy’s Tattoo, and Sons of Ben. Philly rapper Freeway and alternative rock band, The Wonder Years also crafted back tag designs.
Each designer worked closely with the Union to create a unique a set of three-to-five back tag designs and now it’s up to the fans to pick their favorite tag from each collaborator. Voting will begin on December 13.
Once all the votes are tallied, fans will have selected nine back tags that they (and the players!) can have emblazoned on the new kit when it’s released.
The tenth and final tag will pay homage to the Union’s 10 season s in Major League Soccer.
