New A-League team Western United FC just revealed their inaugural playing jerseys ahead of the club's maiden Hyundai A-League 2019-20 campaign. They are made by Kappa.
“We strongly believe that a team’s strip should reflect their visions for the future,” Western United CEO Maurice Bisetto said. “We have a fan base that is looking for us to make a bold statement in our first season. We’ve collaborated with Kappa to produce designs for our jersey which we feel will help us stand out from the crowd.”
Kappa Western United 2019-20 Home Jersey
The first-ever Western United home strip is composed of vertical green and black stripes, accompanied by the club’s unique shield-less club logo.
The top of the shoulders and the sleeves are black whilst the collar and cuffs are green. Kappa's logos are placed on the side of the shoulders and beneath the collar, the Hyundai A-League logo is on the right breast, the Western United FC badge is placed on the left.
Kappa Western United 2019-20 Away Kit
For the away kit, Western United went for something completely different. The Kappa Western United 2019-2020 away shirt features a geometric design inspired by the green wedge from within the new club logo.
In a statement, the club said the motif was derived from the west pointer in a 4-point compass rose to symbolise that “no matter where the team plays, they will always pay respect to the fans and the values of the west."
The club consulted with the fans as well as their official apparel partner Kappa in coming up with the design of the jerseys, which have been designed to reflect the club's modern approach both on and off the pitch.
It has been not announced yet from when the Kappa Western United jerseys will be available to buy.
The unveiling of the playing kit is one of the last pieces of the puzzle for United ahead of their debut campaign.
