Colombian side America de Cali yesterday showcased a special new crest. Fans were not happy with the new logo and harshly criticized the club, which could lead them to reverse the logo (Later it emerged that the special new logo was actually only intended as retro logo for the fist six months of 2019, which made it only little better).
America de Cali some weeks ago announced a kit deal with Umbro, who are replacing Adidas.
America de Cali Reveals Special Retro Logo
A retro design, the special 2019 America de Cali logo replaces the iconic devil with a vintage A.
However, as already mentioned above, the crest America de Cali yesterday showed off was only intended to be used in the first half of 2019 instead of the usual crest.
According to Tulio Gomez, owner of the club, the change is part of an institutional campaign to remember the origins of the club. "America will wear a retro jersey with the first shield that the team had, where there is an A meaning that the team was born in the A and in the A will always be," he said.
Meanwhile, after lot of criticism by the fans, it seems like America de Cali has reverted back to the standard one on social media and their website. It is still expected that the club will release a special retro kit with the unpopular retro logo.
