David De Gea made his professional debut seven years ago against Porto in the UEFA Champions League. Aged 19, David De Gea not only became one of the greatest goalkeepers on the planet since then, he also already is one of the most interesting professionals out there in terms of football boots and gloves choices. So let's take a look at David De Gea's soccer cleat history, which is, to say the least, unique.
David De Gea's Beginnings as Professional - Nike Tiempo And Total 90
A product of Atletico's youth system, De Gea started has been wearing Nike boots in his first years as professional. In his first matches as professional in 2009, he laced up in classic Nike Tiempo boots, while he almost always used the Total 90 silo in his first four years as pro player. But when Nike discontinued the Total 90 soccer boots in 2013, the Spain international returned to the Tiempo, which he should wear for around 18 months. He also used Nike gloves in that time.
Surprise Switch to Puma's evoSPEED
In late 2014, David De Gea totally surprisingly switched to the Puma evoSPEED, while he also ditched Nike's keeper gloves and used Adidas Predator Zones gloves instead. His boot saga would continue for several months, and he was spotted wearing many different evoSPEED colorways as well as Predator boots, at least in training.
De Gea's Boot Saga Comes to An End - Spaniard Officially Joins Adidas
In Summer 2015, rumors arose that the Spain goalkeeper could join Adidas, and in October 2015 his boot saga came to an end when Adidas officially announced that they signed the Man Utd goalkeeper. Interestingly, he has been using the now old first-gen Adidas Ace Primeknit since then in almost all official, while he was also spotted with Adidas' X 16 boot recently.
