On Saturday, FC Barcelona totally surprisingly has withdrawn the vote on the proposed crest which was set to take place at the members assembly on the same day. Now the club's president revealed why the logo was scrapped.
FC Barcelona to Present Updated New Logo Including FCB Letters
Bartomeu said that there will be a period of reflection and no new design will ditch the letters 'FCB', the main reason members rebelled against the changes at Saturday's Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Josep Maria Bartomeu, speaking to Catalunya Radion on Monday, said: "I want to explain to everyone that the evolution of the badge is a way of adapting to new technologies. After listening to the socios I understand the need to revise the plans because it was not accepted by the socios, which is why I removed it from the order of the day.
"After listening to the members, I decided some internal reflexion was needed and to leave it for the future. It was as simple as removing an issue because it wasn't accepted. There will be some reflexion. FCB will continue to be on the badge, that's clear."
Bartomeu's statement also reveals that the club will still present a new logo - that will feature the lettering FCB and very likely other changes to the original proposed all-new crest design.
