The new Eliteserien branding introduces a totally new logo that has some things in common with the new Premier League logo, even though the brand process started in 2014. The logo boasts a modern design in navy and light blue with a lion used as a symbol league, which also builds a bridge to the crest of the Norwegian national team.
Norway newspaper VG asked Leif Ă˜verland (CEO of the league) how much they were inspired by the Premier League logo as the lion takes a central place. He replied that 'This [Premier League] is something that has come up in the focus groups we've had. We have been helped by a skilled firm that has worked on it, it is not our profession at all, and then the lion come up as a joint symbol for football in Norway.
Interestingly, Norway's league also introduced a Derby Saturday as well as a Super Sunday, similar to Premier League's way of promoting their match days.
