Birmingham City have released their 2022-2023 home kit earlier this month. The third kit made by Nike features a "unique design that will be enjoyed by no other club in the UK". Let us find out why Birmingham highlight that fact.
It is Birmingham's third season with Nike as their kit supplier, who replaced Adidas in 2020. So far, the club have not received a single bespoke kits.
Birmingham Did Not Get Any Bespoke Kit From Nike Yet
The first Nike Birmingham FC home kit was the standard Nike Trophy IV in a blue and white colorway. Hundreds of teams worldwide have worn the same template, with Portsmouth getting the same kit.
The second Nike Birmingham FC home kit was a level above the first - it was blue and white with a tiger design. The jersey was not unique to Birmingham but a custom Nike Team creation only given to bigger teams.
The third Nike Birmingham FC home kit is also a Nike Team creation. This design won't be used by another UK club, as announced by Birmingham. So far, the graphic design has been also not used by any other important team in the world.
Nike's Pyramid Of Football Kit Sponsorship - Elite, Premium, Standard, Third Party & Not Affiliated
Birmingham are on the third level of Nike's pyramid. They get no bespoke kits from Nike but at least have some direct contact with the Swoosh.
It is nothing uncommon that the big brands give teams the same kit designs. Last season, very many Adidas teams were twinned by design. This will be also the case in the 2022-2023 season.
