FC Barcelona to End Qatar Kit Sponsorship?

FC Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has suggested that FC Barcelona will get a new main shirt sponsor when the deal with Qatar expires in Summer 2016.

FC Barcelona Reconsider Qatar Sponsorship

FC Barcelona will not return to a sponsorless shirt very likely.

According to FC Barcelona president Bartomeu, the Catalan club will reconsider their lucrative Qatar sponsorship deal because the 'social and political situation' has deteriorated in the past few years.

"We will look at other options - we are obliged to do that," Bartomeu said. "It ends in 2016. We are sensitive to the current situation in Qatar, which has changed since four years ago. Now there are social and political aspects which were not there when we signed.

Josep Maria Bartomeu also said that Unicef won't be on the FC Barcelona Kit from 2016-17:

"It is utopian for UNICEF to be on the jersey, but we will continue to cooperate with them. The proof is our '1 in 11' project. UNICEF is like a family. We have been together for many years."

Some months ago, there were rumors that FC Barcelona could return to a sponsorless shirt from the 2016-17 season, which has become doubtful according to Bartomeu. Check out also the leaked new FC Barcelona 2015-16 Kits.
