Nike released the all-new Nike Phantom VNM soccer boots this month. The Nike Phantom VNM replaces the Nike Hypervenom boot. We compare the all-new Nike Phantom VNM with the Nike Hypervenom. Thanks to Pejie for the pictures.
Nike Hypervenom III vs Phantom VNM
Upper
The upper of both silos comes with some remarkable differences. The Nike Phantom VNM comes with various elements optimized for shooting (partly covered laces with lace cover, special rubber elements), whereas the Nike Hypervenom III Elite football boots had a rather minimalist one-piece Flyknit upper with NikeSkin that is very thin in areas where needed and a bit thicker in other parts.
Both boots have Nike ACC technology. Both boots also have Flywire.
Dynamic Fit Collar
The Nike Phantom VNM is only available as low-cut boot - the Nike Hypervenom Phantom was available with and without a Dynamic Fit collar.
Sole Plate
The sole plates of the Nike Hypervenom III Elite soccer cleat and the Nike Phantom VNM soccer cleat are both made for acceleration, agility and speed. Compared to the Nike Hypervenom, the Nike Phantom VNM comes without any conical studs - it puts even more focus on speed and less on rotational agility.
Nike Hypervenom III Elite vs Nike Phantom VNM Soccer Cleats - Overall
It can be said that the Nike Phantom VNM football boot is not a completely new boot concept - it is rather a combination of the Nike Total 90 Laser IV and the Nike Hypervenom. And that can't be bad as the cleat combines the best of the Nike Hypervenom and the Nike Phantom Venom.
Pricing for the Nike Phantom VNM Elite and the Nike Hypervenom Phantom III Elite is very similar - the Nike Phantom VNM retails at 250 USD (250 Euro, 220 GBP), the same price as the high-cut Nike Hypervenom.
