Unlike the old format of the tournament, which was held once a year, the new FIFA Club World Cup format has increased the number of participating teams and will take place every four years. This means that the winning team will wear the golden champions badge for four consecutive seasons.

Despite winning the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, Real Madrid did not receive a special golden badge. Instead, Man City will continue to wear the golden badge from the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup. This will be used until the end of the all-new 2024 FIFA Club World Cup.
