This year was the worst year of the century for football fans and groundhoppers alike since nobody was able to visit any grounds for the most part of the year and watching football on TV can become boring. In 2021, no famous European club will get a new stadium. In fact, the three biggest soccer stadiums to be opened in 2021 are all outside of Europe - Jakarta International Stadium (82.000), Paul Biya Stadium (60.000) and Stade National de la Côte d’Ivoire (60.000). The biggest European stadiums to be opened are those of SC Freiburg (34.700), Steaua Bucharest (31.250) and AEK Athens (31.000).
