AS Monaco wore a special sleeve patch in Sunday’s 3-0 victory over league leaders PSG. The chosen patch was the winner of a vote open only to owners of the club's Socios Fan Tokens.
Socios Fan Token owners voted for winning patch
Take a look at the badge below.
The winning patch was designed by French artist Nairone Defives and narrowly beat out the closest competitor by 1% of the vote. It was announced at the same time as the result of another Fan Token vote on which retro jersey would be reproduced.
AS Monaco to Remake 99-00 Kappa Kit
The blimp represents the club’s desire to go higher and higher and the star symbolises their ambition. The diagonal lines are a nod to the famous diagonal halves of their home kit. There are also references to the year the club was founded and the shape of the badge itself is similar to the club’s original crest. The globes demonstrate Monaco’s reputation as an international club.
Artist Nairone used his signature black and white illustration style which has been commissioned in the past by the likes of Vans, PSG, Adidas and Nutella.
The patch was intended to be used for only one game, but given the fantastic result the team achieved while wearing it, they may have to reconsider that decision.
