A few days and go an almost exactly a year after the first generation was launched, Adidas unveiled the new X 16 football boots. While the top-tier models, the 16+ and 16.1 have been covered extensively in this place, what has happened with the takedown and lower-tier variants? Let's find out.
Adidas X 16+ PureChaos
Introducing an all-new lace cover construction to the silo, the totally new Adidas X 16+ PureChaos cleats are by the far the most expensive choice of this comparison, retailing at €300. They also exclusively feature a striking chrome effect on the sole plate. Generally speaking, the upper is similar or identical to what's being used for the 16.1 and 16.2 variants.
Adidas X 16.1
Retailing at €200, the Adidas X 16.1 version is available for SG (soft ground) and AG (artificial grass) surfaces, in addition to the standard FG (firm ground). It receives high-profile on-pitch player support in the form of the likes of Thomas Müller or Ángel Di María.
Adidas X 16.2
Contrary to the 16+ and 16.1 versions, the Adidas X 16.1 boots come without an external heel counter, although the sole plate is identical in terms of material and stud alignment. The upper is also quite similar to that of the two higher-priced models.
Adidas X 16.3
Available for indoor and turf surfaces, the Adidas X 16.3 retails at €80 and boasts the same stud configuration as the three previously discussed models.
Adidas X 16.4
The cheapest of the pack, the Adidas X 16.4 retails at €50 and is available for indoor and turf surfaces as well.
