Gareth Southgate's sneaker game has finally caught up with his managerial skills.
Southgate Wears Patta x Nike Air Max 1 "Waves"
Gareth Southgate sported a pair of Patta x Nike Air Max 1 "Waves" in "Pure Platinum" during England's 2-1 win over Italy in the Euro 2024 qualifiers. The choice of footwear marked a departure from Southgate's usual uninspired choices and drew the attention of sneaker-savvy footy fans.
Launched in August 2022, the Patta x Nike Air Max 1 "White" is a collaboration between the famed Amsterdam sneaker boutique and Nike on the retro running shoe in a neutral colorway. Patta and Nike have memorably collaborated on several Air Max 1 colorways in 2021, and "White" reunites the longtime sneaker design partners.
This "White" colorway, like Patta's Air Max 1 from 2021, features a new variation of the silhouette with a wave pattern on the mudguard, this time in white leather. The look is subtle, but adds a modern touch to the shoe. The upper is made of gray mesh and the overlays appear in white leather. There is a silver leather Swoosh on both sides of the shoe and the "Nike Air" branding is embroidered on the heel.
The Patta x Nike Air Max 1 "Waves" in "Pure Platinum" is the final release in the series, and Southgate's choice could make it a coveted item for sneakerheads and football fans alike.
