Real Madrid & Espanyol Wear Purple Armbands

Real Madrid and Espanyol players wore purple armbands in this weekend's La Liga match. Let us find out why.

Real Madrid & Espanyol Wear Purple Armband to Raise Awareness of World Alzheimer’s Day

The gesture was part of a campaign for World Alzheimer’s Day (21 September), an initiative launched by Espanyol to raise awareness and show solidarity with patients. Purple was chosen as it combines blue, representing calm, and red, symbolizing energy in the fight against Alzheimer’s.

Real Madrid only wore the purple armbands in the first half, while they did not wear them for the second half.
