Last week, we leaked the new Nike France home kit for the UEFA Euro 2020. The jersey does not feature a totally new design but is inspired by the possibly most iconic France kit design. Let us compare the France 2020 home kit by Nike with the France 1998 World Cup-winning kit, and the 1984 Euro-winning shirt.
France won its first Euro in 1984 and its first World Cup in 1998 - both kits featured a similar design - the 1998 World Cup kit was already heavily inspired by the 1984 jersey.
What's immediately visible is that, that the 1998 World Cup jersey (and also the 1984) inspired the EURO 2020 France home shirt.
However, the 2020 edition is a much more modern take on the traditional look. It comes with the eye-catching red stripe but without the Three white pinstripes. Instead, it has lighter horizontal stripes.
There is also no classic collar, no sleeve cuffs and other elements. The red stripe is also thciker than the one of the original designs.
