Very Uncommon: Nike Deal Active But Racing Still Wears Kappa

Something strange is currently happening in Argentina.

Nike Kits Not Ready, Racing Club Still Wears Kappa Despite Active Nike Deal

From 1 January 2026, Racing Club has officially partnered with Nike as their new technical sponsor, but fans have not seen the new kits yet. Remarkably, the Argentine club kicked off 2026 still wearing Kappa apparel. Indeed, the club has already begun incorporating the Nike swoosh into their official communication and promotional materials, even while players continue to wear Kappa on the pitch.

As per Argentine kit insider Marca de Gol, the debut of Racing's Nike kits is scheduled for April, with reports suggesting the first match could be the Avellaneda Derby away to Independiente.

The transitional period is very unusual, as teams usually at least get makeshift teamwear kits from their new kit supplier, if the kits are not ready yet. Nike's arrival marks a new chapter for the club, bringing one of football's biggest brands to the historic Argentine side.
