Following today's widely ridiculed crest unveiling, Leeds United CEO Angus Kinnear confirmed that the club will reopen the consultation process over the crest.
“We always knew that the introduction of a crest, particularly one that is so bold and such a break away from the traditional conventions of football club crests, was going to create debate and may be controversial,” Kinnear said.
A petition asking the club to scrap the new design managed to gain more than 50k signatures within a day and now it looks increasingly unlikely that the unveiled design ends up appearing on next season's kits after all.
“[...] we don’t want to do anything that the majority of the fanbase don’t believe in.”
Leeds' move recalls memory of Everton who unsuccessfully launched a new crest in 2013 before ditching it completely the next season.
