We've got the EURO 2020 boots battle, now it is time for kits. Here's what it looks like on the chart. Special thanks to @planetfobal for the images.
For the first time in a major international competition, Nike surpasses Adidas as the dominant kit maker with nine teams in total over the former's eight this year.
Nike's portfolio also looks stronger on paper as well with two reigning champions in France (World Cup 2018) and Portugal (Euro 2016), a World Cup finalist in Croatia. England and Netherlands, meanwhile, have always been strong contenders.
Even Poland and Turkey should also be taken very serious with their current talents in the likes of: Robert Lewandowski, Arkadiusz Milik, Çağlar Söyüncü, Hakan Çalhanoğlu etc. The weakest among Nike's nine nations are Finland and Slovakia.
On the side Adidas, it has Germany and Spain who are also former champions of Europe and the world. Belgium has been a strong side for the past decade. However, the rest of the portfolio are only decent with: Wales, Sweden, Russia, Scotland and Hungary.
Puma is in third but lack far behind compare to Nike and Adidas. Of the four teams that Puma has, only Italy can be considered a contender for the Henri Delaunay Cup. Although don't count out Austria, Switzerland and Czech Republic to cause some upsets along the way.
The remaining three teams belong to three different brands. Denmark with the ever-iconic Hummel chevrons that was also their kit maker when they shock the world with the triumph of the 1992 EURO. Jako has North Macedonia while Ukraine and Joma just recently stirred up political issue with Russia.
Compare to EURO 2016, only Nike has made progress with their representation, going from six (25%) to nine teams and sitting on top with 38%. Adidas is down one team to eight, sitting in second place with 33%, 5% less than in 2016. Puma also loses one and only has four teams now, which translates to 17%, a drop from 21%. The rest share the spoilt with 4% each.
