Alexis Mac Allister, the Argentina international, has been assigned the No. 10 jersey for Liverpool. The confirmation came after a transfer deal was struck between Liverpool and Brighton & Hove Albion.
Mac Allister Chooses No. 10 Over No.8
The Liverpool No. 10 shirt was previously worn by players like Sadio Mane, John Barnes, Luis Garcia, Philippe Coutinho, and Michael Owen. It has been vacant since Sadio Mane left the club in 2022.
Mac Allister revealed that he had the opportunity to choose the No.8 jersey, which holds great importance due to Steven Gerrard's association with it, but he opted for the No. 10 instead.
“I know how important the number 10 is in football. I had the possibility to take 8, which is a big number because of Gerrard but I decided to take 10.”
