A few days after it appeared on their online store, Nike have just official unveiled the brand-new 'Flight' football, which will be used for the upcoming Premier League and Serie A balls.
Honed over 8 years and 1,700 hours of testing, the Nike Flight Football is a revolution in consistent flight. Moulded grooves and 3D-printed ink fine-tune flight through the air to help players put the ball exactly where they want it.

The standard edition of the Nike Flight soccer ball introduces a clean and simple look in white with black graphics and text.
In terms of tech, the Nike Flight ball features the brand's new Aerowsculpt technology that uses moulded grooves to "disrupt airflow across the ball for less drag and more stable flight." According to Nike, this results in 30% truer flight compared to the previous Merlin ball.
During the development of the new football, Nike claim to have gone through no less than 68 iterations of the design.
“Everything done at the Lab is rooted in science,” says Kieran Ronan, Nike Senior Director for Global Equipment. “Here, we are able to detect small differences in performance that may not be perceivable to most athletes, but when those small differences are iterated upon 68 times, the result is a noticeable leap in performance.”
