Update: There have been a ton of revelations ever since we first covered this topic back in October. First, and most importantly, AS Roma's search for a new kit supplier is finally over after officializing a kit deal with American sportswear brand New Balance.
AS Roma Announce New Balance Kit Deal
On another note, Castore looks to aggressively expand by adding teams of Premier League (Newcastle United, Wolverhampton Wanderers) and Serie A (either SSC Napoli or Lazio) to their roster. We will have to wait and see if the Castore rumours really materialise in the end. After all, the stories do seem logical.
Otherwise, it is very interesting to see how retailer 11teamsports manages to act as a third party in sponsorship contracts on home soil: from the 2021-22 campaign they will also have deals with German brands Adidas and Puma after already cooperating with US sportswear giant Nike previously. Another interesting development is the fact that St Pauli will make their jerseys themselves from the next season.
Next season's shirts are always very interesting for both kit fans and supporters, but if there is also a kit maker switch the excitement to see the new kit is always bigger. We take a look at which soccer teams will get a new shirt maker from the 2021-2022 season.
As of now, there are only few big teams who will certainly have a new kit supplier form the 2020-2021 season - by far the biggest of them is AS Roma. Others like Newcastle United will certainly switch suppliers, while Nürnberg, Düsseldorf, Fenerbahce, St Pauli, Shakhtar Donetsk and Toulouse have officially announced a new kit maker for 2021 so far.
Even though there can always happen surprising switches, it looks almost inevitable that the 2021-22 season will bring us less kits from new kit makers than the 2020-21 season. Ahead of the 2020-2021 season, many big clubs switched their supplier, including Bordeaux, Celtic, Fiorentina, Leeds United, Liverpool, PSV Eindhoven and Rangers.
