German club 1 FC Köln, who just gained promotion to the German 1. Bundesliga, released their new home, away and third kits on July 1 2019. According to the club, they are experiencing a jersey boom like last time in the Europa-League season, with on kit proofing to be especially popular.
Köln Sold 2,500 Third Jerseys In First Week
The dark blue alternative jersey with the cathedral points on the chest is very popular amongst the fans. According to information of Köln blog GEISSBLOG, two out of three Cologne fans have so far decided in favor of the third jersey.
In fact, Köln have already sold over 2500 alternative jerseys in the first days of the new season. In comparison to the last two alternative jerseys (yellow-grey 2017/18 and black 2018/19), this year's replacement jersey even sells five (!) times as well.
"We are satisfied with the sales figures and see in them the euphoria surrounding the return to the Bundesliga", Managing Director Alexander Wehrle told the GEISSBLOG.KOELN. Although Wehrle did not want to comment on exact sales figures, he expressed his joy at the fact that supplier Uhlsport apparently seems to have succeeded in making a coup. And this after a disappointing first year of cooperation in league two.
A huge success for FC: in the course of a season, the Geissböcke usually sell between 40,000 and 50,000 jerseys from the regular collection. In addition, there are 10,000 carnival jerseys.
Köln will also again release a special carnival kit in the 2019-20 season. According to the current schedule, the Geissböcke will wear the carnival jersey on the weekend of 9 and 10 November in the home game against TSG 1899 Hoffenheim.
