Confirmed: Real Madrid Requested Humanrace Kit Change

Update: We have received confirmation that it was indeed the club that requested the logo change, as shown by this email from customer support - thanks again to Rashid for the help.

Meanwhile, our store contacts had not heard of the situation at all when we asked them about it, which suggests that the logo change only affects those jerseys bought directly from the club store.

We might have an explanation for why Real Madrid did not wear their new 'Humanrace' kit ahead of the Clásico last weekend. Thanks to Rashid for sending this one in.

updated the crest on the shirt with the official club's logo

An email was sent out to buyers of the shirt, thanking them for their order and informing them that that the club had "updated the crest on the shirt with the official club's logo, which is slightly different from the original image you may have seen on the shirt." In case they aren't on board with the change, buyers are refered to customer service where they can cancel their order.

The updated version of the Real Madrid Humanrace shirt boasts the regular club logo instead of the "hand-painted" one found on the original images.

So far we have only have access to such an email from the official Real Madrid club store, although it's not unlikely that the same will apply to shirts ordered elsewhere as well.

We think this also explain why Real Madrid did not wear the shirt ahead of El Clásico last weekend, even though the release notice stated they would. The club are likely unhappy with the way the badge was altered.
