According to a report in BILD this morning, Adidas is ready to invest heavily to renew the kit contract with the Germany national team, with Nike also strongly interested.
Adidas or Nike? Who Will Become the New Germany Kit Supplier?
BILD states that Adidas is prepared to pay Germany up to €100m a year in a 10-year contract, even more than it pays for Manchester United, the currently highest kit contract in world football.
Adidas was quick to react to the reports in Germany, stating that it would be too early to talk about a possible renewal:
"Our ongoing contract with DFB runs until the end of 2018. Therefore it's actually too early to speculate about a renewal", commented Adidas spokesman Oliver Brüggen. "Adidas and Germany simply belong together. At Adidas, we generally don't comment on contract details."
The report goes on to say that Nike would also be weighting up an offer of more than a billion Euro for the 10 years period from 2018 to 2028.
A possible €100m kit contract for the Germany national team would more than double the currently highest-valued national team kit supplier contract, France with €42.6m.
