Over the last few days, the story that Usain Bolt, the fastest man on Earth, would join Borussia Dortmund's Champions League squad for a trial shortly got heads turning. Could the world class sprinter start a football career now that his Olympic one is over?
Many people were quick to discredit the reports as a Puma marketing stunt and this seems to be confirmed by today's Tweet sent out by Puma Football's official account.
Puma evoSPEED Usain Bolt
This image shows the customized Puma evoSPEED boots for Usain Bolt.
Based on the regular Puma evoSPEED 1.5 boots in the latest colorway, the boots prepared by Puma for Usain Bolt's Borussia Dortmund trial are really nothing unusual. On first glance, they appear identical to the regular stock edition of the cleats, apart from Bolt's name and the Jamaican flag that are printed on the outside of the shoe.
As Bolt's trial at Borussia Dortmund was officially confirmed by Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke, who cited his Puma equivalent Björn Gulden, who is on BVB's supervisory board, as key to the whole thing, it will be very interesting to see which boots he'll wear in the end. We'll definitely keep an eye on this.
