Update: Aston Villa today announced that the existing partnership deal with Luke 1977 will take on a new form for the 2019-20 season with the local Birmingham brand being just the Club’s Formalwear Partner and not their kit maker anymore. This makes the rumor that Kappa will become Aston Villa's kit maker even more likely.
Aston Villa also announced that "the Club will once again focus on delivering a kit that will honour our heritage through design and quality with a new technical partner who will be announced in due course."
Luke 1977 To be Only Formalwear Partner In 2019-2020 Season
Aston Villa Chief Commercial Officer Nicola Ibbetson said: “We are delighted to continue to partner with Luke 1977 within the new capacity as the Club’s Formalwear Partner. The good relationship we have formed with Luke Roper, as a local Birmingham based brand, has enabled us to introduce a new formal offering which has previously not been available to our fans.”
Following one season with local brand Luke Sport, Aston Villa are set to get kitted out by Kappa starting next season, according to fan blog 7500 To Holte. It's worth noting that the same outlet already broke the news on the Luke Sport deal a year ago.
Aston Villa have a merchandising deal with Fanatics, who don't have their own brand present on the shirt and offer other brands to have theirs up. In this agreement, the brands don't actually manage the design and production process.
