On August 4 2020, we revealed that the next-gen Nike Mercurial football boots are set to be launched in early 2021. This brought back an old boot spotting to our mind, from November 2018 - back then, Eden Hazard wore mysterious, never-seen-before blackout football boots. Were they indeed the next-generation Nike Mercurial Vapor 2021?
Next-Gen Nike Mercurial Superfly 8 / Vapor 14 Boots To Be Released In Early 2021
Hazard Did Likely Wear A Prototype Of the Now Currnent-Gen Nike Mercurial Vapor 13 Boots
Eden Hazard's prototype football boots were completely blackout, as it is always the case with confidential upcoming releases.
Hazard's blackout prototypes from 2018 appear to have a super thin flexible upper with a synthetic overlay in areas where needed most, a very low collar and no traditional tongue. The plate seems to be similar to the Nike Mercurial sole plate.
However, when comparing them to the now current-gen Nike Mercurial Vapor 13 released in Summer 2019, they appear to be identical (except of the layer on the upper). What makes them look a bit special is that Hazard has the laces not tighten at all.
The training images have been deleted after a few days in 2018
The training images from 2018 have been deleted in the meantime.
As before, the next-generation Nike Mercurial 2021 football boot will be again available as Superfly and Vapor version - "Nike Mercurial Superfly 8 Elite" and "Nike Mercurial Vapor 14 Elite".
