Update: Kvaratskhelia wore the prototype next-gen Adidas Predator 2024 whiteout boot (laceless version) against Inter Milan yesterday. This further confirms that Kvaratskhelia will be leaving Nike in the near future.
Kvaratskhelia x Adidas Predator 2024
Although Kvaratskhelia has recently been wearing his familiar Nike Mercurial boots, he switched to Predator 2024 boots for yesterday's match. It seems that Nike will not be renewing Kvaratskhelia's contract.
Since the start of 2023, a number of players have left Nike for other sports brands, including Jack Grealish, Mateo Kovacic, Ousmane Dembele, Harry Kane and most recently Kai Havertz. So it's no surprise that another player is about to leave Nike: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Despite an excellent 2022-23 season and continued good form this season, Nike appear to have little interest in renewing Kvara's contract after he was spotted switching from Mercurial Vapor boots to Puma Future Z 1.4 boots in the recent Champions League match against Union Berlin.
Since his debut in 2020, Kvaratskhelia has only worn Nike Mercurial Vapor boots. The fact that he is wearing Puma Future boots shows that Nike has no intention of renewing Krava's contract.
The switch to Puma comes as the German sportswear brand continues to ramp up its efforts to compete with Nike and Adidas in the soccer market. Puma have been aggressively signing top athletes in the sport, while Nike have put more of their focus on the women's game.
