FC Barcelona has decided that their prodigious young talent, Lamine Yamal, will be the new heir to the iconic number 10 shirt starting from the 2025-26 season. However, in a unique move, the club has opted to postpone the official announcement and presentation until a very special date.

Yamal Switches From No. 19 to No. 10#

The number 10 at Barcelona, famously worn by legends like Maradona, Ronaldinho, and Messi, has found its new owner. Following the departure of the previous holder, Ansu Fati, to AS Monaco, the prestigious number will now be passed to the Rocafonda-born starlet.
The club and the player have agreed to postpone the official presentation until a very special date: July 13th, which coincides with Lamine Yamal's 18th birthday. This move transforms what could have been a standard commercial announcement into what is described as an "intimate, familiar and media tribute," marking the significant milestone of both reaching adulthood and inheriting such a historic number.
Kit Launch Before Number Announcement
This strategic delay creates an interesting situation for fans and kit collectors. The new FC Barcelona 2025-26 home kit was released as planned on Tuesday, July 2nd. The club sells the Yamal shirt with a 1? on the website, but the kit will not be delivered until his official name and number are confirmed.
However, the stationary FC Barcelona store is already printing the Lamine Yamal No. 10 shirt.
