Update - Disappointing: Nike Hypervenom EA Sports Boots Not Selling Out At All

Update: The Nike Hypervenom EA Sports soccer cleat have been on sale for more than two weeks now, but they are still available at virtually all stores selling them. It will be interesting to see if stores will reduce the price of the cleats in order to get rid of them.

Despite having been on sale for a full day now, Nike's latest limited-edition football boots, the Hypervenom Phantom III DF EA Sports have not even remotely sold out all 4000 pairs (3000 adult, 1000 kids) that were available.

(Almost) full size runs are still up at most stores that were stocking the shoes, with only a few sizes selling out so far. Only Nike's own store says 'Sold out' but we have no details on stock numbers.

This comes despite Nike and the cooperating stores' great and extensive marketing efforts which even included Edison Cavani and Mauro Icardi wearing the boots in their games this weekend.

It's of course great news for anyone who likes the design and wants to pick up the shoes, but it can be seen as a blow to Nike and limited-edition releases in general. There's definitely been a trend that saw these type of boot releases not live up to the previously generated hype, although the high price ($350) and garish design of the EA Sports Hypervenom could also have contributed to it performing so poorly.
