Manchester United has become the first football club in history to sign a deal with a leisure headwear brand. New Era and Manchester United are set to launch the first collection as early as tomorrow.
New Era was established in the US in 1920, and is best-known for being the on-field cap of the Major League Baseball since 1934. Previously, New Era already signed deals with organizations and brands such as the NFL, DC and Marvel Comics to tap into other markets than baseball.

This is the famous New Era Man Utd 59FIFTY cap.
The debut collection of New Era and Manchester United will include five core silhouettes to offer fans a tailored fit for all occasions. From the flagship 59FIFTY cap to the 9FIFTY Snapback, the New Era Manchester United Collection promises to leave no wish unanswered - at least for caps.
Manchester United group managing director Richard Arnold comments: "Manchester United’s success is built on the support of its fans. Throughout history, our supporters have pledged their allegiance to United by wearing the club crest and we are delighted to be partnering with New Era to bring fans a fresh approach to the branded headwear available to them.
No financial details were disclosed yet. However, it's quite interesting to note that Nike previously owned the official rights to produce Man Utd's hat range, while the record-breaking Adidas £750m deal allows the Red Devils to have an official 'leisure headwear partner'.
Christopher H. Koch, president and CEO of New Era, comments: "We couldn’t be more thrilled to partner with Manchester United on a global level. As New Era continues to expand its international reach, growing our business in world football was a natural progression. A partnership with such a globally revered club is a great opportunity for us to bring quality headwear to the football market."
