Tennis does not really interest and is also not featured on the website as we are are a website solely about football boots, kits and other equipment. However, with FC Barcelona footballer Gerard Pique being the men behind the all-new Davis Cup finals, we watched some matches of it. And then the kits worn by athletes caught our attention...
The Davis Cup does have a supplier deal with HEAD, who are producing the official balls for the competition. It is a similar deal as the partnership of Adidas with FIFA for the World Cup, in example.
Davis Cup Players Wear Kit Of Their Own Sponsor During Match
What made some Davis Cup matches strange to watch for us was that the nation's player were not wearing the same jersey but a kit from their respective sponsor. In example, Rafael Nadal wore a Nike Spain kit and Novak Đoković received a bespoke Serbia jersey from his sponsor Lacoste.
In double matches the players, it looked really weird for the football viewers eye to see the two player of the same team with different jerseys...
However, "presentation equipment" is the same for all players, meaning that stars such as Rafa Nadal and Roger Federer are then wearing the same as others. In example, Rafa Nadal wore the same Luanvi track jacket as his teammates furing the trophy ceremony.
Of course, we know that it is always the case in tennis for players to wear a kit of their sponsor. We still think it looks false.
