Chelsea FC last weekend debuted their new 2020-21 third kit in the Premier League match away against Bromwich Albion. However, the Chelsea Men's team was not the only team to debut the 2020-21 third kit this weekend - the Chelsea FC Women's team also wore the striking kit on-pitch - and it had two major differences.
Chelsea 20-21 Third Kit Revealed
Chelsea 20-21 Kit To Have White Numbers in Premier League / Navy Numbers In Cup Matches
First, the Chelsea FC Women's team wore the kit in the combo as it was launched by Nike, while the Chelsea FC Men's team had to change to the white / blue home socks.
Second, and more importantly, Chelsea wore white numbers in the Premier League, while the Women's team had the custom Chelsea font in navy.
Only 5 colors: The Premier League font is not available in fitting shade of navy
The reason for Chelsea to have white numbers in Premier League is that the Premier League only offers five different colors and no matching shade of navy blue. Therefore, Chelsea opted for white names and letters.
