Last weekend brought us an exceptional kit choice in German's third division, the 3. Liga. And that by no other team than Germany's probably biggest club after Bayern, Borussia Dortmund.
BVB don't have a third kit this season
BVB to Release No 22-23 Third Kit - Kit Clash vs Yellow/Black Dynamo Dresden
Borussia Dortmund's U23s were beaten 3-0 by SG Dynamo Dresden in their third-division clash. Due to having identical jersey colors, BVB had to play in their red goalkeeper strip.
Borussia Dortmund don't have a third kit this season, unlike in previous years. We can reveal that they won't release a third in the 2022-2023 season at all. As they only have yellow/black kits, they have to opt for their keeper kit.
Usually, using the red goalkeeper kit would be nothing that disturbs the players. However, BVB had it only in long-sleeve - all players, therefore, wore long-sleeved jerseys.
Adidas, Nike & Puma Must Release Better Keeper Kits
Some players like Franz Pfanne, BVB's II captain, either cut off the long sleeves or got a short-sleeve jersey - at least two players had short sleeves.
What is also very odd is that the red BVB 22-23 goalkeeper kit is indeed available as a short-sleeve version made for outfield players by default. The template is called Puma Team Glory and retails at around 20 Euro.
Borussia Dortmund's first team already faced Dynamo Dresden in the 22-23 pre-season. Back then, there was a horrific kit clash, with Dortmund wearing their black/yellow away kit.
Meanwhile, BVB's keeper Gregor Kobel has worn the outfield player's away kit in several matches this season.
The same red keeper kit was used in Tuesday's Champions League match against Copenhagen. Alexander Meyer wore a short-sleeve version, interestingly.
