English club Reading, currently sitting in 19th place in the Championship, just announced a new kit deal with Macron. The Italian brand replace Puma, who have been making Reading's kits since 2004.
The first Reading kits made by Macron will be launched ahead of the upcoming 2019-2020 season. While no financial details were announced as usual, the contract between Macron and Reading will run for an initial three seasons, until the end of the 21-22 season.
In a curious coincidence, the 2021-22 season will see Reading celebrate their 150th and Macron their 50th anniversary, respectively.
“We are really happy about this new partnership with such a historic club like Reading,” said Macron CEO Gianluca Pavanello. “The goal we want to achieve with them in the next three years is to create a collection of unique and exclusive products that can be worn with pride by both players and fans.”
Nigel Howe, Chief Executive at Reading Football Club, said “I am delighted we have been able to agree a new partnership with Macron and we look forward to working together to provide our supporters with some brand new blue-and-white-hooped home kits as well as exciting new away strip, goalkeeper shirt and training wear designs across the next three seasons.”
Reading join fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest, who announced a new deal with Macron roughly a year ago, as well as the likes of Lazio, Sporting, Nice and Club Brugge, who all wear Macron kits.
The first-ever Macron Reading kits are expected to be released in July 2019.
