Should the Premier League Introduce Club-Specific Colored Sleeve Badges?

The Premier League's sleeve badge has been a consistent element of club kits since its introduction. However, MLS's fantastic sleeve badge update with Apple TV has made us thinking whether the league should consider club-specific colored variations of the badge to better integrate with team kits.

What we dream of 😊

Current Design Challenges

The standard navy blue Premier League badge presents several design conflicts:

1 - Color Clashes

2 - Brand Integration

Potential Solution: Custom-Colored Badges

We have created several mockup examples that demonstrate how color-matched badges could enhance kit aesthetics:

MLS is caring a lot when it comes to sleeve badges - all other leagues not at all

Precedent in Other Leagues

Two major leagues already implement flexible badge designs:

The visual evidence suggests that custom-colored Premier League badges could significantly enhance kit aesthetics while maintaining the league's brand identity.

The miscolored sleeve badges are a thing in almost every league. For example, La Liga has a striking red badge.

Custom badges would significantly complicate things for the league

Implementing custom badges would significantly complicate things for the league, its teams, and its badge supplier, Avery Dennison. You could not as simply mass produce them, and teams might fight with leftover stock. MLS puts the badges on every authentic kit already during production, avoiding this.
