West Ham defender Kurt Zouma wore Tru Tenaci boots at the weekend against Wolves, from the same company that make Trusox.
First-Ever 'TruSox Football Boot' Launched - New Rival for Adidas & Nike?
Zouma Wears Trusox Boots
Tru was started in 2010 by American Jim Cherneski and came to prominence around 2014 when players like Gareth Bale and Luis Suarez started wearing their anti-slip "Trusox" socks. In 2019 they made their first foray into the boot world with the Tru Tenaci.
The football boot market is highly competitive with Adidas, Nike and Puma having the lion's share of top level players tied down contracts, but this weekend West Ham centre-back Kurt Zouma opted for a pair of Tenacis as his side beat Wolves 2-0.
Zouma had been contracted to Adidas but after the infamous cat-kicking incident the German brand cut ties with the Frenchman. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that the Tru Tenaci boots have been worn by a top level player. Given his reputation as an animal abuser, Tru may have preferred the first appearance of their boots on a Premier League pitch to come on the feet of a different player, but all publicity is good publicity.
