Adidas just revealed that the 2014 Germany Home Shirt was sold more than 3 million times since it was unveiled in November 2013. Previously the record was hold by the Germany 2006 Home Shirt, but those numbers were more than doubled in the World Cup-winning year of 2014.
Germany 2014 Home Shirt Sold More Than 3 Million
The new Germany 2014 Home Kit with four stars and the World Cup Winners Badge helped to further increase sales.
The Germany 2014 Home Shirt sales were already strong going into the tournament and were boosted further after the World Cup win and the reissue with the fourth star and the World Cup winners badge. Remarkably, one third of the Germany shirts was sold outside of Germany, showing the global appeal of the German national team and its Adidas wear.
Compared to major club teams, the Germany 2014 shirt sales look even more special. Between 2009-10 and 2013-14 Real Madrid, who had the highest sales during the period, sold a little over 1.5 million shirts a year, followed by Manchester United, FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
