Arsenal Station is the only underground station to be named after a football club

Oddly, Adidas and Arsenal released a Transport for London collection just at the start of 2022. Now, ten months later, Arsenal bring out a similar collection, made in-house.

Arsenal 2022-2023 TfL Collection

The new Arsenal x TfL 2022 collection is inspired by Arsenal Station – the only underground station to be named after a football club, following its name change from Gillespie Road on October 31, 1932.

The name change came after concerted lobbying from visionary manager Herbert Chapman, who wanted to make it much easier for supporters to instantly know how to get to see the team, whilst simultaneously cementing the identity of the club into the local area.

Like the Adidas x Arsenal x TfL per-match jersey, the new new in-house Adidas Arsenal collection features a roundel and Barman Moquette seat pattern, which appears on the Piccadilly Line trains that run through Arsenal station.

In total, there are 19 pieces in the range which also include youth items, matching the adult wear, as well as Barman Moquette-designed accessories – both of which have a navy base color, and subtle Arsenal tube station sign-off.

There are no particular sport items but surely products Adidas could have released as well

It should be noted that there is no on-pitch or sports items in the new in-house Arsenal x TfL collection. This is certainly to not clash with Arsenal's multi-million Adidas deal.

The new Arsenal x TfL 2022-2023 collection is available via the club's online store and at The Armoury. Prices range between 18 Euro for the socks and 56 Euro for the Hoodies.

What do you think of Arsenal releasing an in-house collection that boasts clear similarities to the Adidas x Arsenal x TfL collection? Comment below.
