Only seven days after announcing crypto firm Hex.com as their new shirt sponsor, Barnsley have taken the decision to end the deal over homophobic tweets made by individuals linked to the company, according to BBC.com. This also means the removal of one of the worst sponsor logos of the season from their shirts.

Barnley End Hex Deal After One Week
Barnley debuted the oversized, mismatching Hex.com logo on their shirts just a week ago, but it has already made its last appearance on their kits. The reason for the cancellation of the deal is said to be offensive tweets made by two people who helped broker the deal between Barnsley and the crypto company.
Most of the tweets were of a homophobic nature but there were also tweets supporting conspiracy theories about the Sandy Hook school shooting which happened in 2012. Controversial tweets from Hex founder Richard Heart were also taken into account.
Barnsley issued the following statement on Friday:
Barnsley Football Club value our fans and our core beliefs above everything else. Following recent events and a subsequent investigation, the Club has assessed its relationship with its front of shirt sponsor and has taken steps to end that relationship with immediate effect. The HEX.com logo will not appear on the team’s kits going forward. Further comment will be issued in due course.
They played against Derby in sponsorless shirts yesterday, losing 2-1. Barnsley did the right thing by ending the deal, but agreeing to a partnership with such a questionable firm in the first place was also a mistake.
