INCREDIBLE: Nike Replaces Traditional Uruguay Pennant With Metallic 'Charrúa Shield'

During the recent international friendly between Uruguay and England in London, fans were treated to the on-pitch debut of the new Nike Uruguay 2026 kit. However, before the whistle even blew, it wasn't just the jersey that caught the eye.

Nike Uruguay "Born to Fight" Shield Pennant

Instead of exchanging a traditional embroidered fabric pennant before kick-off, the Uruguayan captain handed over something completely unprecedented. As part of the official "Born to Fight" launch campaign for the new kits, Nike created an incredible, custom metallic shield to replace the standard matchday pennant.

The striking piece of equipment was designed to reflect the famous Garra Charrúa (the renowned warrior spirit and grit of the Uruguayan national team).

Moving entirely away from standard fabric, the pennant features a heavy, bronze-colored metal AUF crest complete with the nation's four stars. Instead of fringes, the shield is backed by actual metallic chainmail. Looking closely at the handle of the weapon-like accessory, you can clearly see a bronze Nike Swoosh integrated into the design.
